Four local Orange County high school students traveled to Washington, D.C., with Orange Partnership for Alcohol and Drug Free Youth Director Gayane Chambless, to participate in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) prevention conference and attend CADCA's national leadership forum.

Orange Partnership, Mayor Mark Bell, and other county leaders present Weaver Street Market Hillsborough with the Responsible Alcohol Seller Award.  The reasons they rose to the top of the list this year - being dedicated to training their staff on following company policies and procedures in place to prevent the sales of alcohol to those underage, and their commitment to building a healthy community.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month.  Orange Partnership community coalition introduces its educational and public awareness campaigns promoting mental well being, and providing guidelines on how to prevent substance misuse in our youth.

Over the past decade, nine permanent medication drop boxes have been established by the Orange Partnership for Alcohol and Drug Free Youth, law enforcement agencies and pharmacies across Orange County.

A 2014 literature review in the Journal of Studies of Alcohol and Drugs showed that parental allowance of drinking at home was consistently related to a higher likelihood of drinking during adolescence, binge drinking, drinking and driving, and other alcohol-related problems.
